Hastelloy encompasses a family of nickel-based superalloys with compositions varying by grade, all centered around high nickel contenttypically 40-70%to provide exceptional thermal stability and corrosion resistance in extreme environments. The popular C-276 grade features about 57% nickel (Ni), 15-17% molybdenum (Mo), 14.5-16.5% chromium (Cr), 4-7% iron (Fe), and 3-4.5% tungsten (W), alongside trace maximums including 1% manganese (Mn), 2.5% cobalt (Co), 0.35% vanadium (V), 0.08% silicon (Si), 0.02% carbon (C), 0.03% phosphorus (P), and 0.01% sulfur (S). Variants like C-22 boost chromium to 20-22.5% with 12.5-14.5% Mo and reduced iron (3%) for superior oxidizing resistance, while B-2 prioritizes around 68% Ni, 30% Mo, and just 1% Cr to excel in hydrochloric acid conditions.
